Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how we work, what installs cost, and how to book, all in one place. Still have a question? Reach out and we'll answer honestly.

General

  • Where do you install: mobile or in a shop?

We work by appointment around Champaign-Urbana and Central Illinois, and we come to you when the job allows it. A clean, covered space like a garage is ideal for the more involved installs. We’re a new, solo-run shop with no walk-in showroom, so every job starts with a quick conversation to settle the vehicle, the look, and where the work happens. Reach out and we’ll find a time and place that fits.

  • How long does an install take?

It depends on the install. A simple interior footwell kit can be done in a few hours; a galaxy headliner, rock-light, or full underbody job is usually a full day of careful work because the panel comes down or the wiring routes through the chassis. Since we work solo and by appointment, we give you a realistic time window at consultation and won’t rush a finish line at the cost of the fit. We’ll tell you up front whether your vehicle leaves the same day or needs to stay overnight.

  • Are your installs reversible? Will they void my vehicle warranty?

We install for reversibility wherever we can. Rock lights and underbody strips mount to existing chassis hardpoints with brackets (no body drilling) so they come off without a trace. Headliner and interior work routes through factory panels and seams rather than cutting into structure. We tap ignition-switched power on its own fused circuit instead of splicing into factory wiring. If you need a lease-return or fully reversible spec, tell us at consultation and we’ll route it that way. Nothing we do is intended to compromise your vehicle’s factory systems, but we can’t speak for your specific manufacturer’s warranty terms. If that’s a concern, check with your dealer before booking.

Pricing & payment

  • Do you take a deposit? How does payment work?

The prices on the site are starting estimates. Your final number depends on your vehicle, the kit, and the scope, and we lock that quote at consultation before any work begins. For installs that require ordering parts to your spec, we ask for a deposit to cover those materials, with the balance due when the work is finished and you’ve seen it lit up. We’ll spell out the exact amount and accepted payment methods when we confirm your quote, with no surprises after work starts.

  • Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, our workmanship is guaranteed. Every install carries a one-year limited warranty against fiber failure, LED driver failure, connector breakdown, water ingress, and vibration-induced disconnection. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, whether a connection that backs out, wiring that was not sealed right, or a light that quits, we make it right. We are a new shop, and we would rather fix a problem than argue about it. Damage from collision, improper modification, unauthorized service, or neglect is not covered.

About the installs

  • Will a galaxy headliner affect my factory headliner?

No. We remove the panel cleanly, route fibers through the foam and substrate, and reinstall. There are no visible holes, no glue residue, and no warranty-voiding modifications to the vehicle structure. If you ever want it removed, the headliner panel can be swapped without trace damage.

  • How many stars can a galaxy headliner fit?

A standard install runs 200-400 fibers. Larger headliners (extended-cab pickups, full-size SUVs) can hold 500-600. Density is a preference call: denser feels immersive, sparser feels editorial. We show you reference photos at consultation so the choice is visual, not numeric.

  • Can I control galaxy headliner colors and brightness from the driver seat?

Yes. The illuminator module ships with an RF remote and most kits support a smartphone app. Brightness, color temperature, twinkle pattern, and shooting-star frequency are all adjustable in the cabin without any aftermarket switches.

  • Is it legal to use rock lights or underbody lighting on the road?

In Illinois, decorative lighting is legal at standstill and on private property. On public roads, the lights must be off while the vehicle is moving, and red/blue colors are restricted because they can be confused with emergency vehicles. The controller we install includes a “drive-mode” override that disables the lights above 5 mph automatically and keeps red/blue out of the on-road palette, so you stay compliant without thinking about it.

  • What patterns and colors are available for rock lights?

Static colors (16M+ RGB), color-cycle patterns at variable speed, music-reactive (driven by mic input from your phone), and pulse / strobe / fade-in. Custom patterns can be programmed via the app. Most owners pair a daily-driver mode (slow cyan fade) with a show mode (full-spectrum cycle).

  • How does underbody lighting hold up to weather, salt, and pressure-washing?

The strips we install are silicone-jacketed (not just IP-rated PCB), the same construction used in marine and off-road heavy-equipment lighting. Salt, slush, mud, and a pressure-washer at 1500 PSI from 18 inches are all within service spec. Rock-light pods are IP67-sealed and wired with sealed connectors at every break, and we bench-test the wiring before the first bracket goes on. Our one-year workmanship warranty covers water ingress, vibration failure, and connector breakdown.

  • Can underbody lighting run the same color as my rock lights?

Yes. The underbody controller can be slaved to a rock-light controller (or a separate one synchronized via app), so any pattern or color you set on one fires across both. We do this on combo installs (single-app control, both lighting zones, one show mode), and combo installs get a bundle discount, so ask at consultation.

  • How visible are interior LED strips from inside the vehicle?

If we did our job right, the strip itself is hidden from passenger view, and only the wash of light is visible. We route along trim seams, behind ledges, and under panel edges. The light appears, the strip doesn’t. If you can see the strip from a normal seated position, the install isn’t done.

  • Can interior lights respond to opening a door or starting the car?

Yes. The controller supports trigger inputs from the door-pin switch (lights ramp up when a door opens, fade out when it closes) and from accessory power (lights come on when the key is in ACC, full bright when running). Both triggers are programmable per-zone: your doors might use one pattern, your dashboard another. We tap ignition-switched 12V on a separate fused circuit, so your factory courtesy and dome lights keep behaving exactly as they did.

Booking

  • How do I book, and what happens first?

Start with a free 15-minute consultation. Book a time or send us your vehicle details and a photo or two through the form. We’ll talk through options, kit choices, and a realistic timeline, then lock your quote. Because it’s just one person doing the work, we schedule each install with enough room to do it properly, so booking ahead is the surest way to get the date you want. We serve the Champaign-Urbana community in both English and Spanish.
