Rock Lights

Multi-color LED pucks mounted under the chassis with app control, custom patterns, and rugged off-road wiring.

Starting at $350

Rock lights are the lighting kit that turned underbody glow from “early-2000s import scene” into something that holds up at a real off-road event. The pucks mount to the chassis, not the body. The wiring lives inside frame rails, not behind cosmetic trim. The controller pairs to your phone and remembers the patterns you actually use.

What we install

A standard kit runs 4 LED pucks — one at each wheel well — with the option to step up to 6 (front bumper add) or 8 (rear bumper add) for full perimeter coverage. Each puck is a single-piece aluminum housing with sealed RGB LEDs and an integrated heat sink.

The pucks we install are sourced from shops that supply event-class off-road builds: cast aluminum body, glass-over-LED face, M8 stud mounting, and a pigtail connector that’s been wave-tested to 15 PSI. We don’t install hot-glue-and-zip-tie kits.

Wiring you don’t see

Half the install work is the wire route. We pull each puck back through the frame rail, into a fused junction in the engine bay, then up through a factory-passthrough into the cab to the controller. Every connection is heat-shrink-and-solder, not crimped. Splice points get adhesive-lined heat-shrink so they survive a hose blast.

The controller (mounted above the dash on most installs, behind the center console on others) ships with:

  • Bluetooth pairing to your phone
  • Hard-wired switch for app-free toggle
  • Drive-mode interlock that kills the lights above 5 mph for on-road compliance
  • Memory for your last 5 saved patterns

Where this gets installed

Most often: lifted pickups (F-150, F-250, Ram, Silverado, Sierra, Tundra), full-size SUVs (Wrangler, 4Runner, Bronco), and the occasional overlander build. We’ve also done a handful of custom-bagged trucks where the pucks become a slammed-down-show-stance accent.

If you’re not sure if your build is a fit, send us a photo and the make/model — most builds are.

What it costs

Starting at $350 for a 4-light kit installed, including bracket fab, wiring, controller, and app pairing. 6-light is $475, 8-light is $600. Custom programming or non-standard pucks are quoted at consultation. We don’t sell parts-only — every install is parts + labor + warranty bundled.

Our Process

  1. Consultation

We confirm vehicle, intended use (on-road show / off-road wheeling / both), and the pattern coverage you want — 4 / 6 / 8 lights.

  2. Spec + wire plan

Light count, controller, switch placement, and a hidden run path that survives mud, rocks, and a pressure-wash. You approve the wire plan first.

  3. Install

Pucks mount to bracket-pickup points (no body drilling). Wiring routes through the frame rails to a fused, switched, app-paired controller in the cab.

  4. Walk-through

You sit in the driver seat. We pair the controller with your phone. You learn the patterns. We test every light at full brightness before you leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do these work after I've been off-road or pressure-washed the truck?

Yes. Every light we install is IP67 sealed (full immersion-rated). Wiring is routed inside frame channels with sealed connectors at every break. We pressure-test the wiring on a test stand before the first install bracket goes on. We warranty for two years against ingress, vibration failure, and connector breakdown.

  • Is this legal to use on the road?

In Illinois, decorative lighting is legal at standstill and on private property. On public roads, the lights must be off while the vehicle is moving. The controller we install includes a "drive-mode" override that disables the lights above 5 mph automatically — keeping you compliant without thinking about it.

  • How are they mounted? Do you drill the body?

No body drilling. Pucks attach to existing chassis hardpoints (control arm tabs, frame holes, skid plate mounts) using stainless brackets we fabricate to fit. Removable. Reversible. If you ever sell the truck and want them off, the bracket comes off and there's no evidence we were there.

  • What patterns and colors are available?

Static colors (16M+ RGB), color-cycle patterns at variable speed, music-reactive (driven by mic input from your phone), pulse / strobe / fade-in. Custom patterns can be programmed via the app. Most owners pair a daily-driver mode (slow cyan fade) with a show mode (full-spectrum cycle).
